I've had a lot of clients asking the benefits of having a videographer with them on their big day. I'm planning on releasing a little FAQ soon but thought I'd say my input here first: You will love your photos. You will share them on Facebook, send them to relatives, print them and gift them to grandma and create large canvases for your home. Your children will admire them and pass them onto their children. There's not a doubt that photographs will be the most memorable keepsake from your wedding day. However, photos can only capture so many moments. Photos can bring you back to that special day, but a video can tell the entire story. Chances are, you'll forget exactly why your sister's speech was so meaningful. You'll remember from the photographs but to hear her words again and again and see the tears on your own face - that's special. During your first dance, you might miss those quick glances, that gleam from your new husband as he twirls you around the dance floor. Imagine being able to re-watch that memory and have it set to that very same song. It's an entirely different sensory experience than looking at a photograph. It's that moment all over again. I get asked all the time what I enjoy doing more: photo or video. I've been doing both for as long as I remember. To me, they go hand in hand and I love them both for many reasons. I encourage you to watch some of these films and imagine having your own wedding day captured on video. Imagine cracking open the same bottle of wine you shared that night, sitting down on your couch and having all of those memories come alive on the screen. That's the magic of cinema. With that being said, here are two full length films that go hand in hand with the previews I have on my website. With each collection, my clients will receive a 15-second Instagram preview (shareable on any social network), a 2-3 minute sneak peek and a longer 10-20 minute film. The packages are priced based on hours of coverage, one or two cinematographers and audio preferences. You'll see in Blaire & Jonno's video that they chose a package with audio - they read letters to each other and their reception toasts have been integrated as well. What you won't see is the special features on their USB that included a second camera that captured their entire ceremony as well as all of the toasts - 45 minutes of toasts, you guys! Enjoy! Alexia and Sam are by far one of the most fun-loving couples I have ever met. They spent a good majority of this session laughing, jumping and mocking those oh-so-serious poses that we see all too often (but yes - we got a few of those in as well). I met Alexia on-set during my junior year at USC and I immediately knew that she had more than it takes to become a star. She's currently starring as Pearl on Hulu's Original Series Quick Draw and you've probably already seen her all over YouTube. When I finally met her long-time boyfriend, Sam, I knew that they would be engaged in no time. These two absolutely beam when they look at each other! I'll save the hilarious outtakes for later (mid-air high fives, gymnastic tricks, PDA, etc.) so for now, here are some of my favorites. Congratulations, Alexia & Sam! You didn't think I'd leave you guys hanging without linking you to some of Alexia's stuff, did you? Here are some of my favorites! Sexy Halloween Costumes He Likes Me Makeup for the Morning After Enjoy! I'm now incorporating highlight films in all of my cinematography packages! Here's one of my firsts! These clients will receive this highlight film - created for easy-sharing on Facebook for those friends that want a quick glance - as well as a longer film incorporating the letters that they wrote, their vows, toasts & reception. Congratulations to Blaire & Jonno - the newest Davisons! Vendors for this event included: Photography - John W. Photography Venue - Wedgewood Glen Ivy | Corona, CA If you grew up in Southern California, chances are you took a summer trip to Balboa Island at least once when you were growing up. This little beach town in Orange County practically defines summer - the tantalizing smell of BBQ, families wrapped in colorful beach towels, sunshine, music coming from every cottage & the beach in every direction. This was the perfect setting for an end-of-summer family portrait session! I met up with the Sander family & immediately thought they all walked out of an Anthropologie catalog. Head-to-toe styled outfits (courtesy of Mrs. Sander's eye for fashion), natural good looks & great senses of humor - we couldn't go wrong! Even with an entire family of gorgeous people - complete with two college volleyball studs! - Britney & Randy's daughter, River Laine, was clearly the star of the show! Here's a quick sneak peek at last night's Glen Ivy wedding with Blaire & Jonno! My first niece has arrived! And it's no doubt that her modeling career has already begun. I flew to Sarasota, Florida to meet Sydney Morgan and she worked the camera at every moment! She's around three weeks old in these photos, which is the best time to capture these calm little moments. Maybe I'm biased, but is she not the cutest baby on the planet? Congrats to Nikki, Jason & Jake on their newest edition to their beautiful family!
This was my second visit to the Rancho Polo Equestrian Center in Thermal, CA and I must say, I feel much more horse-savvy than the first time! It was a cool morning, considering it's the start of summer in the Palm Springs area, and the small stable community was buzzing - as were the flies.
I was introduced to all of the horses of Stable F by Ali, an Alaskan-raised rider and the proud mother of Jose, a 17-hand "grey" Thoroughbred. Although he's technically referred to as grey, his beautiful coat lightens to an almost-white over time. See how much I've learned?! Aly & Jose put on quite the show as they cantered around the polo field and I was lucky to be a part of the fun. Maybe on my next visit they'll let me take a ride. Fingers crossed! Classic, elegant and romantic are three words that describe this gorgeous Palm Springs wedding! Alex & Brett chose the O'Donnell Golf Club, quietly nestled at the base of Palm Springs' iconic mountain, to celebrate their marriage. The desert heat subsided just in time for their special day and guests enjoyed a refreshingly cool night - perfect for dancing! This location felt so intimate as we roamed the grounds for our photo sessions. You can't go wrong with a beautiful location and a stunning couple! Congratulations to Alex & Brett - a lifetime of happiness is ahead of you!
What's better than watching one of your oldest friends fall in love and tie the knot? Being able to photograph the journey & partake in the most fun-filled, heart felt and beautiful weddings of the year! Krystina and Terry's wedding was definitely a special one for me. I always try to become comfortable with my wedding parties but when you've known most of them for over ten years, it makes my job not only easy, but so much fun. There were no camera-shy people at this event!
Krystina & Terry (a baseball coach, as you'll see) had their entire wedding on the stunning grounds of Orcutt Ranch in West Hills, CA right outside of Los Angeles. The energy and love in the air made this day seem like one straight out of a fairy tale. From Krystina's handmade vintage (her grandmother's lace!) gown to the glowing lights that hung over the dance floor - this wedding was one for the books. Congratulations Terry & Krystina DeWan! Let me first say, what a beautiful couple! Stephanie and Kris got married at Spencer's in Palm Springs this spring and I was lucky enough to be able to film their entire day. I absolutely love filming weddings -- moving images bring everything to life and can capture the little moments that stills sometimes can't catch. Congratulations to Kris & Stephanie! |
